Disc Jockey Who Inspired 'A Bay Bay' May Return To Jail For RapeCaddo prosecutors are threatening to revoke the bail of a Shreveport disc jockey accused of raping a woman at a local nightclub.
Assistant District Attorney Hugo Holland said due to mounds of evidence against Terrance "Bay Bay" Stewart and concerns for the safety of the victim, the prosecution will seek to revoke the bail Sept. 18 and hold Stewart in prison until the case is tried.
"We've had to hide the victim because of threats," Holland told the court Tuesday. "And he already has one charge of witness intimidation pending against him. ... If some unfortunate incident happens to the victim or members of her family, we will arrest Mr. Stewart again."
Stewart showed no reaction Tuesday as he appeared before Caddo District Judge John Mosely for reduction of his $155,000 bail. Shreveport Attorney Shanta' Wells enrolled as co-counsel for Stewart, to assist Minden attorney Eric Johnson, and asked that the case be continued.
Stewart, 32, and 36-year-old Ron Johnson, known as DJ Ron, each face one count of simple rape for sexually assaulting the victim, according to authorities. Stewart also faces a charge of witness intimidation.
A bartender found the 24-year-old unconscious and unresponsive on the third floor of Kokopelli's early the morning of Aug. 2. She was taken to a local hospital, where it was determined she'd had sex.
The mother of three doesn't know what happened. She remembers drinking wine and water with Stewart and waking up in the hospital about 10 hours later.
Police say she also was drunk, drugged or both.
After the investigation and viewing of surveillance video from the club, Stewart and Johnson were arrested and booked into Caddo Correctional Center.
Stewart is out on bond; however, his defense seeks to have the bail reduced citing the amount of collateral his family was forced to put up for his release.
Johnson remains in Caddo Correctional Center on $250,000 bond. He was on parole for drug charges at the time of his arrest.
Stewart is known to hip-hop fans nationwide. Rapper Hurricane Chris' song "A Bay Bay" is a tribute of sorts to Stewart, who spins at Kokopelli's and K103 Tha Beat. The song peaked in July at No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 and is at No. 10 in the latest issue of the chart.
