G Unit's Prodigy: 'They Tried To Get Me To Set Up 50 Cent'

Mobb Deep?s Prodigy, who is signed to 50 Cent?s G-Unit Records, recently revealed that the New York Police Department asked him to set up the G-Unit boss with a gun and drug charge.
Prodigy made the shocking revelation during a recent interview with DJ Whoo Kid on Sirius? Shade 45 Radio.  The Queens bred rapper also talked about his recent gun charge which resulted in him being sentenced to 3 ? years in jail.
As reported earlier , Prodigy plead guilty to criminal possession of a loaded gun earlier this month as part of a plea deal and was handed a 3 ? year jail sentence.
The charge stemmed from a 2006 arrest.  Two police officers pulled Prodigy over in Manhattan last October after he made an illegal U-turn and during a search of the rapper's SUV, the cops found a.22-caliber handgun in the rapper?s SUV.
Prodigy, who already had two gun possession charges, faced up to 15 years if he was convicted.
?I had to cop out to three and a half,? Prodigy explained.  ?It?s serious right now.  The hip hop cops, they all over us son.  They took my bullet-proof truck, they found a lil? hammer in my car, so know I gotta do a lil? 3 ?.?
?I got a long record but I beat all my cases because they were all illegal searches and this was an  illegal search too, but the cops got on the stand [and] they was lying and all kinds of stuff ,? he continued. ?So I had to cop out to 3 ?.  I was facing 15 years.  So through the cops lying and the judge and the DA (District Attorney), I had to cop out.  There was no way for me to win?.
?The exact charge was possession. I beat all my [prior] cases because it was illegal searches and I had never done anything violent,? P said.  ?This time they pulled my bullet-proof truck over.  It?s not illegal to have a bullet-proof truck.  I got a bullet proof truck to protect myself and my family.  Basically they pulled my car over and they searched my car without asking, they went all through my car and popped up with a gun.  I got locked up; I had to go to court.  I had a hearing.  We lost the hearing, so I had to take it to trial.?
?I went to trial and the first offer the DA gave me was five years.  I turned that down.  I said ?nah, we going to trial.?  We gon' beat this cause I ain?t do nothing? Prodigy continued.  ?So I took to it trial, the cops got on the stand and they said all kinds of lies that I was moving my hands and I was doing all kinds of movement and they saw me do things that weren?t even true.  So it was basically our word against the NYPD.?
?The gun was inside a box, a closed box in my car but they trying to say that when walked over to my car, the box was open and they saw me putting things in there and it never even happened,? P emphasized ?They were basically just lying, so it?s all good.  I?mma eat that, I?mma do the 3 ?.  I?ll be right back.  All they doing is making me stronger, they don?t even understand what they are doing.?
Prodigy was gearing up to release his second solo album early next year but due to the circumstances, those plans have changed.
?I had H.N.I.C 2 about to drop this March but now I?m putting that on hold,? Prodigy said.  ?I?m about to drop a whole bunch of mixtapes, I?m about to shoot like 10 videos.  I?mma keep the music cracking.  I got alot of things happening but basically it is what its is, January 9th, I gotta go in and it?s on.  Basically I got 12 weeks on the streets right now.?
?There was a good chance I could have won but the cops was lying so much that I didn?t wanna fight that,? P continued.  ?Once the cops was lying and the DA is believing it and you got the judge on their side, I saw the circumstances and I sat back and I really thought about it and I saw there was no way I could win.  They was trying to rail road me, I wasn?t trying to get 10-15 years.  I got kids, I got a career, like 3 years I could do that and come home and still be popping.?
?And they confiscated my car,? P revealed. ?There is a new law in New York that if you get caught with drugs or weapons in your car, they confiscate your vehicle.  I paid a $120,000 for my bullet proof [and] they took that.  It?s nothing; I?ll come home and buy another one.?
While briefly touching on the T.I. situation, Prodigy would reveal that the NYPD tried to make him set up 50 Cent.  T.I. is currently in federal custody on gun charges.
?Much love to T.I. and his whole family.  There is no telling what?s going on right now,? Prodigy said.  ?I?ve seen it first hand for myself that the cops is lying.  When they locked me up they tried to get me to set up 50 Cent.  They wanted me to plant drugs and guns in his car.  I was like ?Hell no, I aint doing that?.  They told me if I plant stuff in his car, they would let me walk.?
?We gotta [start putting] cameras in our cars,? P answered, when asked how rappers could avoid getting themselves caught up.
?Every time the police pull you over, you gotta record it, you gotta spend some kinda money to protect yourself.  Put cameras in your car and when they pull you over, you press record and everything is recorded, audio and video,? advised Prodigy.  ?The video camera in their car doesn?t stop them from planting stuff in your car.  That camera can?t see what?s going on inside your car.  So you gotta have cameras inside you car if you really wanna protect yourself.?
Prodigy, who suffers from sickle cell anemia, revealed that no extra measures have been taken to monitor his condition during his incarceration.
?Them niggaz don?t give a fuck if I got sickle cell.  I?m just a regular nigga that?s gonna be in jail right now,? P said.  ?Ain?t no special facility or none of that son, I?m just a regular nigga in jail.  They don?t give a fuck about none of that.?
P, would also reveal that the hip hop police have been investigating Mobb Deep since the early 90?s and accused them of profiling.
?They?ve been investigating Mobb Deep since 1991, I got proof, I got pictures, I got everything they've been taking of us since 1991,? he divulged.  ?We not criminals, we rappers.  That?s illegal for them to do that.  Thats called profiling, racial profiling, they profiling us cause we black rappers and we making money.?
?It?s profiling.  I can see them doing that if there was an altercation, investigate that altercation but don?t investigate everybody and take pictures of everybody for 15 years straight.  That?s illegal,? P stressed.
When asked if he thinks the hip hop police follow Kanye West, P replied: ?I don?t know if they following that tight clothed ass nigga but I know they following us.  I know they following me.  His clothes are so tight you could see if he have a gun or not.?
Prodigy would end the interview with strong words of advice for his peers and fans.
?Whoever?s listening, stop fucking putting rims on your car, stop buying all this fucking faggot ass jewelry that they stealing from black people in Africa anyway and just put cameras in your car,? P emphasized.  ?Think about your safety, think about surveillance and don?t let these niggas do this shit like they doing to us right now.?
?Prodigy is going to jail for 3 ? years, T.I. is about to get locked up right up now.  This shit is for real,? he continued.  ?Stop fucking around tryna chase faggot ass fashions  and jewelry, all this faggot shit and really protect yourself, get cameras, get microphones, really think ahead and protect yourself.?
